Wood, BS, CMRS, CBST scott@buildingscienceinstitute.com
Professional Biography:
Scott Wood has a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. He is a certified Level II Thermographer, as well a certification in Building Science Thermography (CBST), Applications of Infrared Thermography in the Inspection and Diagnosis of Low Slope Commercial Roofing Systems. He has presented numerous talks as well as provided expert advice regarding mold and microbe remediation as well as infrared thermography and building science. Mr. Wood also, provides consulting and training in the areas of building science through BSI. This involves performing building forensics on single story to multi story high-rises as well as providing design solutions, considerations and testing for heat, air and moisture barriers for the building’s enclosure.
His numerous courses and seminars attended include; Disaster Kleenup International, ATC and Associates/The Environmental Institute, Environmental Testing and Technology, American Indoor Air Quality Council (AmIAQ), Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Fraunhofer Institute of Building Physics WUFI/ORNL, Infrared Training Center (ITC), California Building Performance Contractors Association (CBPCA).
Mr. Wood's professional experience includes past employment as a Senior Building Science Consultant for BCRA an architectural and engineering firm. At BCRA he provided consulting and investigating for construction defects (building forensics), water/air intrusion testing, primary and third party plan reviews for heat, air and moisture barrier design, infrared thermography expert, technical research/support, and project management. Mr. Wood started work at Four Star Cleaning and Restoration’s remediation division in 2000 when the company had only 20 employees. When he left in Spring of 2008 that service alone maintained a 20 plus staff and its members had performed hundreds of projects, from small residential to multi-million dollar enterprises. As Four Star’s Technical Director responsible for consulting/investigator of construction defects, water intrusion and infrared thermography, reviewed all infrared inspection reports, technical research, technical support, and project management. He also is a member of the Building Science Institute where he is a primary instructor/consultant for Building Science Institute. He provides instruction for courses, trains and coordinates instructors, writes course manuals, Scott provides clinics and workshops, and reviews all student reports for certification.
